Nature, photography & France

A sunny afternoon

The weather today is grey, cold and drizzly.  I’ve been burning bergamot, lavender and cypress* in an attempt to evoke thoughts of hot Mediterranean summers, swimming in the sea off the southern tip of Italy, the Greek islands or the coastline of Croatia.

In reality I’m sitting in the lounge with the woodburner piled full of logs, giving out an occasional smoky belch of scented wood and crackling contentedly as I sip on yet another cup of hot tea and eat another left-over-from-Christmas chocolate.

What a difference a day makes!  Yesterday was beautiful.  Blue skies with only a few light clouds floating past.  We decided to make the most of it and explore the area further by heading to the neighbouring towns of Charroux and Civray in the area of Sud Vienne.

I’m looking forward to the next sunny day to explore some more.  But in the meantime it’s back to the fire, the tea and the burning oils.

*Try my blend of bergamot, lavender and cypress to cheer up the grey days of winter.

  • Citrus bergamia (bergamot) is uplifting, refreshing and brings warmth and joy.
  • Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) soothes and encourages compassion and harmony.
  • Cupressus sempervirens (cypress) is restorative, strengthening and calming.
